Thomas Showalter

Thomas Showalter is a policy expert, zealous advocate, and coalition builder in the areas of education, workforce development, and disability. He is the former executive director of the National Youth Employment Coalition, a membership association focused on creating an equitable transition to adulthood. Before coming to NYEC, Thomas advised advocacy organizations and foundations at the Hatcher Group and spent almost five years on the majority staff of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, working for Chairmen Edward M. Kennedy (D-MA) and Tom Harkin (D-IA). Thomas brings a racial, gender, and disability justice lens to all his work. Thomas holds a bachelor’s degree in religion from Swarthmore College.
