Rob Ivry recently retired from MDRC where he worked for 38 years, most of them as Senior Vice President for Development and External Affairs. He is a nationally known expert on education and social policy issues, especially in the areas of education, workforce and job training, youth development, and employment. He played a lead role in incubating and launching new projects at MDRC, particularly across the education pipeline from pre-k to higher education, as well as initiatives focused on opportunity youth and training/workforce. Ivry also managed much of MDRC’s dissemination and external affairs working with advocacy and membership organizations, government officials and Congressional staff, research organizations, and leaders in public policy. He was MDRC’s primary liaison with the foundations that supported the organization’s work. For most of his time at MDRC, Ivry was a corporate officer and part of the management team. Prior to MDRC, he directed youth programs for the Mayor’s office in Baltimore from 1972-1980. He is currently on the Board of the Grable Foundation and volunteers and advises other non-profits on development and strategy.
