Brian Garcia is the Research and Policy Intern at American Youth Policy Forum. He is currently in his final year as a master’s student in the public policy program at George Washington University.
After graduating from the University of Florida, Brian taught for three years at Weldon Elementary in eastern North Carolina. He would then go on to join the national non-profit Teach For America in their work to bring the nation’s top leaders into classrooms. Through both experiences Brian gained a deeper understanding of the issues facing the youth of America and how policy at the federal and state levels affect them.
Brian is passionate about creating equity and expanding opportunities through policy changes. His work with AYPF will allow him to focus on elevating issues and information on policies critical to helping underserved youth across America. In his free time Brian loves to read, cook, and explore the many wonderful outdoor areas in the greater DMV region.
