Developing a College-and Career-Ready Workforce: An Analysis of ESSA, Perkins V, IDEA, and WIOA

The College & Career Readiness & Success Center at AIR has released a tool: Developing a College-and Career-Ready Workforce: An Analysis of ESSA, Perkins V, IDEA, and WIOA. This resource examines how state leaders can leverage four major federal laws, the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), the Carl D. Perkins Act (Perkins V), the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) to create and promote an aligned education-to-workforce pipeline. Included in this collection are the following materials:

  • A brief to help state and local agencies understand where opportunities exist to align and leverage policies, programs, and funding across laws to support the education-to-workforce pipeline;
  • A workbook that further examines alignment opportunities in the context of state plans as they relate to ESSA, Perkins, IDEA and WIOA; and
  • An interactive tool to help state and local agencies develop a plan that maximizes opportunities for college and career readiness alignment while adhering to state and local legal requirements.
