Each year nearly 3.5 million children are subject to at least one maltreatment report and 15% of youth enter foster care because of abuse. Child abuse can include physical, sexual, and emotional/psychological abuse. The animated video below illustrates the intersection of child abuse, foster care, and trafficking. Youth in foster care and/or involved in the child welfare system, especially young girls, are vulnerable to sex trafficking and are approximately 60% of trafficking victims. This form of child abuse is still a new concept to many and through this video, we hope to raise public awareness.
