The Family First Prevention Services Act

Signed into law in 2018, the Family First Act provides funds to states to prevent children from entering foster care by allowing referral reimbursement for mental health services, substance abuse treatment, and in-home parenting skill training. It also seeks to incentivize states to reduce placement of children in congregate care. AYPF has focused on improving coordination between this law and other laws affecting traditionally underserved youth.
