Overview

The American Youth Policy Forum (AYPF), in partnership with the Data Quality Campaign (DQC) hosted a learning exchange in Nashville, Tennessee entitled, “Navigating the Intersection of Teacher Effectiveness Policies and State Data Capacity.”  This two day study mission provided an opportunity for state policy teams to use the efforts and lessons learned from Tennessee as a backdrop for conversation about the important connection between teacher student data link and teacher effectiveness policies, and how to pursue educator effectiveness agenda within each state.

The scope of the conversation ranged from understanding each state’s needs around teacher and student data, to developing a strategic human capital pipeline, to leveraging data systems to support teachers and effective teaching. State teams will hear and learn from Tennessee’s efforts, interact with national experts, and were given opportunities to engage in discussion within and across our invited state teams, which include Illinois, Kentucky, New Hampshire, New Jersey, and Oklahoma.
