Dropout Recovery Related Projects

Most of our current work is around creating “multiple pathways” to graduation for our most at-risk students. This includes Accelerated High Schools for underperforming youth, an Educational Options program for older youth, and the new Gateway to College program. We are heavily engaged in year two of the Youth Transitions Collaborative in Philadelphia with many city and state agencies, non-profit and community-based organizations, and our lead agency, Philadelphia Youth Network. The Collaborative’s efforts are funded by dollars from the Gates, Carnegie and Mott Foundations as well as the William Penn Foundation locally. Our plan is to create a comprehensive, citywide plan for drop out prevention and reengagement that includes the School District and all other related city agencies. At present, we are working on creating 5,000 slots for returning drop outs in our multiple pathways educational options.
