Description of Organization

The U.S. Conference of Mayors is the national organization that represents the mayors (chief elected official in the city)of urban areas in populations greater than 30,000. It represents mayors in all substantive policy areas and develops strategies for mayoral efforts in their cities on such issues as housing, transportation, education, workforce development and training, environment, communications, technology, health and welfare, crime and safety, homeland security, taxation, energy and economic development.

Dropout Recovery Related Projects

The Conference has projects focused on the mayoral role in high school reform, transition to postsecondary education and improving workforce development options that address the needs of at-risk youth to prevent drop outs and encourage high school graduation.
