JCPS is the largest school district in the state of Kentucky, serving over 97,000 students in preschool through grade 12, plus adult education.  The district operates 150 schools.  Our student population is 57 percent Caucasian, 35 percent African-American, and 8 percent other racial/ethnic minorities.  More than 53 percent of our students receive subsidized meals.

Projects and Publications

We have a district policy of no expulsions.   In an effort to prevent students from dropping out, and to attract those who have already dropped out, we operate an array of alternative schools and programs to accommodate varying needs.  Information about these schools and programs can be found at the following web sites.
